The laughter, the music, the dance—designer Mayyur Girotra captures it all in his latest couture collection, The Sangeet Tales (2025-26).
If pre-wedding festivities like mehendi and sangeet are the heart of Indian weddings, then Mayyur Girotra’s new edit is their sartorial soul. Inspired by rituals brimming with colour, rhythm, and intimacy, The Sangeet Tales celebrates the magic of these moments with bold silhouettes, jewel tones, and intricate embroideries.
“Pre-wedding celebrations carry their own kind of magic, filled with colour, ritual, and emotion. I translate that spirit into garments that are bold, vibrant, and deeply rooted in Indian craft,” shares Mayyur. For him, these celebrations are performances of joy—each garment designed to embody that spirit.
A Riot of Colour and Craft
The womenswear edit features lehengas in vibrant shades of lime green, fuchsia, and mustard, layered with mirror work and zardozi embroidery. A strapless lime-and-pink lehenga designed for movement perfectly channels sangeet energy, while a mustard-and-fuchsia creation is made for the bride who wants to shine at her mehendi.
Men’s wear reflects the same celebratory spirit, with embroidered jackets layered over floral kurtas—playful, bold, and versatile enough to move from sangeet to cocktail night.
Tradition, Heritage & Storytelling
Rooted in Mayyur’s lifelong connection with textiles and craft, the collection combines Chanderi silks, Kanjeevarams, and mixed fabrics to create pieces that are maximal yet wearable. His philosophy is clear: “Minimalism has its beauty, but Indian celebrations call for magnificence.”
The Campaign Vision
Shot at Alila Fort Bishangarh in Rajasthan, the campaign visuals mirror the ethos of the collection. The fort’s sandstone walls contrasted beautifully with jewel-toned lehengas and richly embroidered ensembles, creating an atmosphere of timelessness and celebration.
With The Sangeet Tales, Mayyur Girotra doesn’t just design clothes; he designs memories—pieces that move with the rhythm of the dholak, the laughter of families, and the magic of Indian weddings.
