A Modern Twist on Tradition
For this year’s Navratri celebrations, actress Tabu embraced a contemporary rendition of the traditional kasavu sari, a garment deeply associated with Kerala’s festivals like Onam and Vishu. Designed by Heena Kochhar, this version reinterprets the classic white and gold ensemble using silk georgette with a handloom tissue finish. Departing from the conventional underskirt, Kochhar paired the sari with a woven chanderi lehenga-style petticoat, maintaining the sari’s signature white-and-gold lines while adding volume.
Embellishments That Speak of Craftsmanship
The sari is adorned with fine zari and sitara ari embroidery along its edges, introducing subtle texture. The blouse offers a striking contrast in emerald green, densely embroidered to catch the light. Tabu’s ensemble completes with temple-style jewellery from Kalyan Jewellers, featuring earrings encrusted with rubies and emeralds.

Tabu’s beauty look was understated yet elegant. Her hair style was a low bun, keeping the appearance clean and unfussy. Makeup was matte, with softly defined eyes .
