At Lakmé Fashion Week 2025, designer Payal Jain presented her newest collection, Paris Mon Amour. It is a heartfelt tribute to Paris. She calls it her “love letter” to the city.
She drew deep from her time in Paris. More importantly, she merged that influence with her Indian heritage. The result: fashion that feels both personal and universal.

A City That Speaks Elegance
Jain has spent several years in Paris. Over time, she absorbed its rhythm, its poise, and its effortless style. She wanted to distil that into clothing. She says Paris is “alive with poetry and style.”
Thus the collection centers on that understated glamour. She was keen to let ease and elegance co-exist.
Translating Feeling into Fashion
To bring this to life, Jain chose fabrics that breathe. She used soft mulmul, airy Chanderi, sheer lace, delicate cotton. The aim was to evoke movement, lightness, and romance.
Her palette is gentle: ivory, eggshell, soft indigo. Silhouettes stay playful yet composed — wrap dresses, loose blouses, denim minis, crochet dusters.
Craftsmanship & Techniques
Indian Weaves Meet French Sentiment
Jain fused Indian textile traditions with Parisian aesthetics. For example, she used handloom cotton and the ‘katruan’ weaves from Banaras. These rooted pieces formed the base of her designs.
On top of that, she layered details: lace, cutwork, hand embroidery, appliqué, fringes. Each detail is stitched by hand. The collection foregrounds tactile, slow craft.
Lightness in Construction
She built garments to move, not weigh. Many pieces are semi-sheer, layered, or softly draped. Accents like crochet and lace inserts soften structure.
This approach makes the clothes feel intimate — as if each piece carries emotion. She wanted her collection to feel like “a note passed between old friends.”
