Nicobar’s pre-festive Dhara edit pays homage to the Indus Valley civilisation, blending ancient heritage with contemporary design. The collection spans clothing, a capsule jewellery line called Seals, and a new home collection of textiles and décor.
“Inspired by the timeless course of the Indus, Dhara symbolizes continuity and quiet evolution,” explains Simran Lal, Nicobar’s creative lead. “We drew from museum archives, archaeological references, and sketches of seals and terracotta figures, translating their essence into designs that feel contemporary yet rooted in history.”
The womenswear line includes flowing dresses, layered kurta sets, breezy separates, and festive attire, while menswear features relaxed kurtas, tailored shirts, trousers, and layered ensembles suitable for everyday wear or celebrations. Earth tones anchor the collection, accented with watermelon, mint, and mustard shades. Natural fabrics, including cotton, silk, and breathable blends, highlight craftsmanship with handwoven textures, reflecting the organic spirit of the Indus Valley.
The Seals jewellery line draws inspiration from ancient stamp seals, animals, and symbolic motifs, reimagined as modern accessories. Signature pieces like the Unicorn Bangle reinterpret the one-horned beast motif, while other designs celebrate bulls, leopards, horses, and pomegranates, symbolizing strength, grace, journeys, and abundance.
Dhara is more than a collection; it is a living memory of heritage, connecting the ancient Indus Valley to contemporary fashion, jewellery, and home décor.
