If you’ve ever wondered, “Why can’t I just wear jeans to a wedding?” designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock just gave the world its answer — and it’s a resounding yes.
On Day 3 of the Hyundai India Couture Week 2025, the couturiers known for their extravagant feathers, fringe, and unapologetic bling surprised audiences by sending a model down the runway in jeans. Not just any jeans, but a reimagined couture pair with fringe-heavy hems, styled with a crisp white shirt, a sequinned black jacket, and a bold brooch — instantly transforming denim into a wedding-ready statement.
A Gen-Z Friendly Twist
Speaking exclusively to India Today, Shane Peacock revealed the inspiration behind the move: “We wanted to try something different, keeping Gen-Zs in mind. I wouldn’t be surprised if brides get married in jeans someday.” With comfort and individuality leading modern bridal trends, denim might just become the next wedding trousseau staple.
Star Power on the Ramp
While denim grabbed headlines, the night’s true showstopper was Akshay Kumar, returning to the ramp after more than a decade. Breaking his famous early-to-bed routine, the superstar walked with signature energy in an ivory sherwani, richly embellished yet timeless, paired with sparkling silver juttis — a modern groom’s dream ensemble.
The Royal Affair: Raj Mahal Bijoux
The duo’s latest collection, Raj Mahal Bijoux, paid tribute to Indian royalty. Swarovski crystals, emeralds, rhinestones, elaborate veils, and saree-inspired silhouettes painted a regal picture. The setup echoed a palatial garden soirée, complete with marble peacocks inspired by Baroda’s Laxmi Vilas Palace.
Menswear also sparkled — sherwanis drenched in crystals both front and back, bejewelled sehras, and even embellished metal bowties for grooms who want their moment in the spotlight.
A New Chapter in Couture
By bringing jeans into couture, Falguni Shane Peacock didn’t just start a conversation — they opened a door. Wedding fashion is no longer limited to lehengas and sherwanis; it’s becoming a playground of experimentation where denim might just sit beside Swarovski.
