Milan, Sept. 25, 2025 — Milan Fashion Week roared to life as Italian powerhouses Prada and Fendi unveiled their Spring/Summer 2026 collections, each rewriting the language of elegance in strikingly different ways.
At Prada, co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons once again reimagined the uniform—but this time with radical deconstruction. Military-style shirts were paired with bell skirts and long evening gloves, while boiler-suit jumpsuits appeared softened with silky jackets and heels. The designers embraced what Simons called an “anti-sculptural approach,” creating garments that hung loose, skimmed the body, and encouraged freedom of movement.
Fake utility pockets, shoulder-slung skirts, and bras without rigid structure all played into the collection’s message: clothing as liberating, fluid, and interchangeable. “A woman can feel amazing and free and chic and luxurious in a uniform as much as in a flowy dress,” Simons explained. Prada added that the duo aimed at “building a new kind of elegance.”
Across town, Fendi struck a softer note under creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi, presenting what the house called “nonchalant elegance.” Playful shapes came alive in scrunched balloon-hem jackets, tiered skirts, and sheer organza shirts — for both men and women. Joyous colour palettes dominated, with silk cable-knit coordinates and light layers giving the collection a breezy sophistication.
Bags, the maison’s heart and heritage, took centre stage once again. One standout piece featured a beaded floral motif, echoed across garments, balancing craftsmanship with romance. “It’s about a relaxed and colourful sense of ease with a romantic elegance,” Fendi explained in the show notes.
Together, Prada and Fendi’s shows embodied two distinct visions of Italian luxury — one experimental and deconstructed, the other romantic and effortless. Both, however, echoed the same sentiment: modern elegance is about freedom, versatility, and joy.
