Ranna Gill on 25 Years of Fashion, Nature-Inspired Luxury & Her Bond with Madhuri Dixit
“I grew up in fashion,” says Ranna Gill, one of India’s most influential designers, whose name has become synonymous with effortless elegance and global sophistication. Recently, Ranna showcased two distinctive collections — The Treasury of Trousseau at DLF Emporio Mall and Tales from the Saddle, both of which reflect her deep connection with nature, craftsmanship, and sustainable design.
For Tales from the Saddle, the designer drew inspiration from the grace and strength of horses. “Their beauty and elegance fascinated me,” she shared, highlighting her experimentation with denim to create structured yet fluid silhouettes.
Meanwhile, The Treasury of Trousseau was a true celebration of Ranna’s ready-to-wear sensibility — an opulent showcase of over 62 styles, including evening wear and cocktail gowns. “It was our first major step into evening wear — for brides who want pieces they can re-wear and cherish,” she said.
Born into a family immersed in fashion, Ranna recalls her early fascination:
“As a little girl, I was always around fabrics, threads, and patterns. My mother was in the business, and her factory was my playground.”
Her signature aesthetic — bold prints, florals, and natural motifs — stems from her travels and her love for organic inspiration. “Nature is in my DNA,” she admits. “Our mood boards always begin with flowers, landscapes, and global influences. It’s what keeps my creativity alive.”
