Couturier Abhinav Mishra’s latest collection, The Shrine, is a lyrical celebration of India’s architectural and spiritual legacy. Drawing inspiration from shrines, palaces, and temples, the designer transforms centuries of craftsmanship into modern couture that glows with memory and meaning.
Unveiled this season, The Shrine unfolds through three poetic narratives — Enchanting Blooms, symbolising renewal and tenderness; Watercolour Artistry, evoking the lyricism of frescoes; and Delicate Harmony, where sparkle meets softness, and structure flows into fluidity.
“It’s a homage to India’s rich architectural vocabulary — the play of light on marble, the floral carvings, the timeless symmetry,” shares Abhinav.
The Craft and Colour Story
Known for his signature mirror work and gota embroidery, Abhinav extends his craft vocabulary into new terrain. The colour palette features warm pastels and muted tones, balanced with subtle shimmer. Prints echo watercolour washes, geometric repeats, abstract interpretations, and hand-sketched florals, mirroring the delicate artistry of temple murals and palace frescoes.
Embellishments — including pearls, sequin-dori, and kirkiri embroidery — lend depth to the collection’s romantic silhouettes. Think bridal lehengas, flowing anarkalis, and contemporary separates crafted in organza, chiffon, silk, and georgette.
“The aim was to make every piece feel like it has a soul — something you can wear not just for its beauty, but for the emotion it carries,” the designer adds.
Festive Fashion Forecast
For the upcoming festive season, Abhinav predicts a mood of refined celebration.
“It’s about finding that sweet spot between celebration and comfort,” he says. “People want to dress up, but in a way that feels light, fluid, and effortless. We’ll see shimmer through metallic tones, mirror work, and delicate embroideries — but used in a more sophisticated way. Layered silhouettes, soft fabrics, and statement blouses are defining the season.”
