Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor has officially begun filming for a compelling new project: the biopic titled Eetha. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar and focuses on the life of Marathi folk-artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar, a revered performer of Tamasha and Lavani theatre.
Production teams report that filming kicked off on 1 November 2025.
Vithabai Narayangaonkar was one of Maharashtra’s most celebrated Tamasha and Lavani performers. Since born in rural Maharashtra, she rose to fame through her magnetic stage presence, powerful voice and commitment to folk theatre tradition.
Her name holds deep cultural significance in the region; the film’s title, Eetha.
