A fashion designer from Coimbatore is attracting attention for her extraordinary creations that transform traditional blouses into luxury wearable art pieces using gold, silver and precious stones. These unique garments are redefining high-end fashion by merging traditional Indian attire with lavish craftsmanship.
The designer, Ms. Sonia Ravikumar, founder of One Stitch designer house, revealed that her most opulent piece uses approximately 750 grams of gold, with its value estimated up to ₹78–80 lakh for a single blouse. What was initially planned as a ₹50 lakh creation ultimately evolved into an even richer masterpiece due to the extensive materials and intricate detailing.
Ms. Ravikumar explained that each blouse took about 52 hours of meticulous work to complete. The design process involved balancing aesthetic elegance with usability, ensuring that the garments are not only visually striking but also comfortable to wear despite their luxurious construction.
In addition to the gold-infused pieces, the designer also showcased a silver blouse embellished with Navaratna and other precious stones, valued between ₹8 lakh and ₹10 lakh. The incorporation of gemstones like Navaratna brings an extra layer of traditional prestige and visual richness to her creations.
Ms. Ravikumar emphasised that while some creations are ultra-high-end, she is also open to designing exquisite blouses within more accessible budgets — suggesting that even garments priced at ₹1–2 lakh can be crafted to look luxurious and refined.
Her ambition is clear: to push the boundaries of creativity in luxury fashion, offering clients pieces that are not only visually spectacular but also reflective of individual style and artistic expression. She credits her team and collaborators for their support in bringing these elaborate designs to life.
