“Even if circumstances are poor, dreams should always be rich.” This belief has shaped the life and journey of Harshwardhan Ishwardasji Bagde, whose salon today stands proudly as the Number One ranked salon in his locality. His story is a testament to grit, perseverance, and the courage to dream big despite adversity.
A Childhood Marked by Hardship
Born into an extremely poor family in Khadki village of Bhandara district, Harshvardhan’s early life was defined by financial struggles. Determined to change his circumstances, he moved to Nagpur, Maharashtra’s second capital, to pursue higher education.
Balancing academics and survival, he attended college from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. while working a part-time job to support himself. Despite the hardships, one goal remained constant — to build something of his own.
Choosing Entrepreneurship Over a Secure Job
After completing his education, Harshwardhan entered the corporate sector. However, life in a competitive city like Nagpur made him realize that a salaried job alone would not help him create a lasting identity or fulfill his entrepreneurial dreams.
When he shared his decision to start a business with family and friends, he faced strong resistance. Concerns about poverty, lack of capital, and deep-rooted beliefs such as “business is not for us” and “Marathi people cannot succeed in business” were common. Yet, Harshvardhan chose determination over doubt.
Launching a Dream — Just Before the Storm
After years of saving money and overcoming obstacles, Harshwardhan finally opened his own small salon shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic. The initial days were filled with optimism and hope, as his long-cherished dream began taking shape.
COVID-19: A Crushing Setback
Soon after the salon’s launch, the COVID-19 pandemic brought everything to a halt. Lockdowns forced the business to shut down completely. Income dropped to zero, debts increased, and operational expenses mounted.
Despite running the salon at a loss, Harshwardhan tried to keep it alive. The period proved to be one of the most challenging phases of his life, pushing him to the brink both mentally and financially.
Rising Again with Renewed Determination
As restrictions eased, Harshwardhan made a firm decision — to start again from scratch. During this crucial phase, his wife Snehal Bagde stood by him as a pillar of strength. Together, they resolved to rebuild the business with renewed focus.
Drawing on his experience, understanding of customer needs, and unwavering honesty, Harshwardhan rebranded and remarketed the salon. This time, the emphasis was on exceptional service quality, customer trust, and consistent effort.
Becoming the Number One Salon
Today, the salon that once seemed destined to shut down has emerged as the top-ranked salon in the area. Strong customer loyalty, skilled craftsmanship, and relentless hard work transformed adversity into achievement.
Harshwardhan credits his success to customer trust and his commitment to excellence — proving that setbacks can become stepping stones to success.

“If I can rise from poverty and rebuild after losing everything during COVID, anyone can,” he says.
