For a recent shoot promoting her upcoming film, Janhvi Kapoor paid tribute to her South Indian roots with a couture spin on the traditional half sari. Designed by Manish Malhotra World, the luminous gold ensemble seamlessly merged heritage with high fashion.
The look featured a voluminous lehenga skirt in gold tissue fabric—a feather-light yet densely woven textile threaded with metallic yarns, designed to shimmer with every movement. Draped voni-style, the dupatta evoked the timeless langa voni silhouette, while its couture finish added a sense of red-carpet grandeur.
The showstopper of the ensemble, however, was the blouse—crafted like a jeweller’s masterpiece. Hand-embroidered with pearls, sequins, and crystals on sheer tulle, the beadwork gave the illusion of floating embellishments. Structured shoulders offered definition, while the dramatic open back featured pearl-strung straps with delicate latkans, swaying elegantly with her movements. A slim kamarband in gold cinched the waist, lending the flowing silhouette a touch of structure.
Kapoor accessorised with yellow-gold jewellery accented with emeralds and diamonds, extending the molten palette while introducing refreshing green tones. A tiered choker, traditional temple-style jhumkas, and a single emerald statement ring balanced richness with restraint.
Her beauty look was soft yet striking: luminous skin, petal-pink lips, winged liner, and kohl-rich eyes. A red bindi grounded the look in tradition, while her slick low bun wrapped in fresh mogra anchored the ensemble in classic South Indian bridal elegance.
The result was more than just couture—it was personal storytelling through fashion. Kapoor wore the half sari not as costume but as heritage, modernised yet rooted in timeless tradition.
