‘Woven Whispers’ Exhibition to Open at CID Grand-Hornu After Debut at Milan Design Week 2025

Belgium is Design is bringing its acclaimed exhibition “Woven Whispers” to CID – The Centre for Innovation and Design at Grand-Hornu, following its successful debut at Milan Design Week 2025.

The exhibition presents 17 projects that bridge Belgium’s rich textile heritage with contemporary experimentation, material research, and product development. Through themes of sustainability, tactility, and design thinking, “Woven Whispers” illustrates how textiles can function as both cultural legacy and a driver of innovation.

Set against the historic backdrop of Grand-Hornu—one of Europe’s foremost neoclassical industrial landmarks—the exhibition gains an added layer of resonance. CID, known for its focus on contemporary design, architecture, and applied arts, provides a fitting venue to explore how traditional textile craft can inform future creative industries.

By merging craft traditions with cutting-edge design research, the exhibition prompts reflection on textiles’ role in education, practice, and cultural storytelling, while reaffirming their continuing relevance in the 21st century.
