Studio Renn, the Mumbai-based jewellery studio founded by Rahul and Roshni Jhaveri, marks its fifth consecutive year at Collage, Chennai, with the launch of [Prime]al, a collection that blends minimalist design with indigenous artistry and symbolic storytelling.
True to its name—Renn, meaning rebirth—the studio approaches jewellery as a medium for abstract ideas and emotional narratives. “[Prime]al is a study on the significance of simple things and the simplicity of significant things,” says Roshni. The collection draws inspiration from indigenous art forms, translating expansive themes such as fertility, protection, sustenance, and time into subtle, refined forms.
Everyday motifs are reinterpreted with symbolic clarity: cacti represent protection, fish signify abundance, and the seed-leaf embodies fertility. Materials fuse tradition with modernity, pairing antique-cut diamonds, emerald and ruby cabochons, and pearls with contemporary architectural settings to create pieces that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
“Each piece is created to carry emotion and meaning—with the final interpretation left to the collector. Jewellery becomes more than adornment; it transforms into a personal story that can be worn,” explains Roshni.
