Born from her fascination with the Parisian rhythm of life, Paris Mon Amour draws inspiration from the city’s unhurried yet magnetic style. “This collection is inspired by the Parisian men and women, who walk past unhurried yet magnetic, perfectly tuned out to the most minute details, with poodles on their arms, espresso in their hands, and an effortless sense of style,” Payal shares.
After decades of meandering through Paris’s boulevards and cafés, Payal captures that spirit through a series of breezy, minimal silhouettes infused with Indian craftsmanship. Think Katruan cotton from Banaras with zari accents, Chikankari phanda and murri embroidery on ivory mulmul, hand-stitched lace, delicate cutwork, tone-on-tone beadwork, and denim fringe appliqué — each detail merging the je ne sais quoi of Paris with the soul of India.
The Balance of Restraint and Richness
Blending Parisian minimalism with Indian maximalist craft is no easy task. Payal admits that the creative challenge lay in restraint.
“The challenge was knowing when to stop,” she explains. “Indian craftsmanship naturally celebrates abundance, so restraint was key. I kept the colours subtle and the silhouettes simple, letting the embroidery and textiles shine without overwhelming the design.”
The result is a collection that feels effortless yet intricate, luxurious yet wearable, offering an elegance that transcends seasons and borders.

“I see myself as a bridge connecting traditional artistry with modern fashion,” Payal says. “We want these crafts to reach new audiences while sustaining the livelihoods of artisans who make them possible.”
Her advocacy extends to the revival of Kadhua weaving, a centuries-old technique from Banaras. “The survival of Kadhua weaving is crucial for preserving India’s textile heritage,” she notes. “We constantly create new interpretations of traditional motifs, ensuring the craft’s longevity in a world increasingly driven by fast fashion.”
