    Karan Chawla, the co-founder of KLYM, is rapidly transforming the skincare landscape in India by fusing artificial intelligence with dermatological science. In a recent interview with SugerMint, Chawla revealed how his AI-first startup is poised to disrupt traditional beauty norms through deeply personalized, data-driven skincare recommendations.

    Data-Driven Personalization for Indian Skin

    KLYM’s core strength lies in its ability to deliver skincare guidance tailored precisely to Indian skin types. According to Chawla, the AI platform evaluates 16 key skin parameters—including acne, pigmentation, and wrinkles—through a computer-vision skin scan. More than just surface-level analysis, KLYM integrates climate, geography, and lifestyle variables into its algorithm. By tapping into data such as city-level pollution or humidity, KLYM adapts routines dynamically to reflect a user’s environment.

    A Scientific, Product-Neutral Approach

    Unlike many beauty brands driven by sales targets, Chawla emphasizes that KLYM is “product-neutral and science-first.” The platform evaluates over 1.6 lakh products from more than 800 brands, matching them to user needs based on ingredient-fit scores. This unbias method ensures that recommendations are not promotional pull.

    Dermatologist Collaboration for Accuracy

    Another critical facet of KLYM’s technology is the integration of professional dermatological expertise. Chawla explains that a panel of dermatologists helps validate the AI’s predictions, setting severity thresholds and ingredient protocols to maintain “derma-level accuracy.” For users with more complex skin needs, KLYM can also connect them with partner dermatologists for in-person or virtual care.

    One of KLYM’s most user-centric features is its ability to track skin improvement over time. After scanning the skin, users receive a Skin Health Score and a detailed report that helps them monitor their progress. This visual and quantitative feedback empowers people to make informed decisions and observe the real-world impact of their skincare routine.
