Bharati Ananta Hiwarkar stands as a living example of this thought. Today, she is recognized as a successful entrepreneur and the proud founder of Sakshi Beauty Parlour, Uday Nagar—a name trusted by thousands of women across the region.
Humble Beginnings, Strong Values
Bharati’s journey was not backed by any legacy or big investment. What she had was a strong desire to create her own identity and a passion for work. The most valuable lesson she received from her parents stayed with her throughout life:
“Stand on your own feet, become self-reliant, and never give up no matter how tough the situation is.”
At the age of just 20, when she became a mother to two children, many would have put their dreams aside. Instead, Bharati chose to begin her journey. While caring for her infant son, she enrolled in basic parlour training and soon started offering threading services from home.
Support, Struggle and Growth
Her husband supported her by purchasing parlour material worth ₹5,000. With that small beginning—and without any further investment—Bharati gradually built her clientele through honesty and quality service. She later completed an advanced professional course in Mulund, where she won three major competitions, boosting her confidence and credibility.
Soon, Sakshi Beauty Parlour earned the reputation of being the best parlour in the village. Today, customers from nearly 20–30 villages visit her regularly, trusting her skills and service.
Beyond Beauty Services
Understanding women’s needs, Bharati expanded into jewelry, makeup products, and essential items. During the COVID lockdown, she even started a family-run cake business to sustain livelihoods.
Her biggest contribution has been in women empowerment through training. She has conducted classes in parlour skills, mehendi, hair and skin treatment, macramé, painting, and more. Believing that “knowledge grows when shared,” she has trained over 4,500–6,000 girls, many of whom now run their own businesses.
Recognition and Vision
Bharati has received several trophies in seminars and workshops and was honored with the “Best Makeup Artist” award. What makes her journey special is that her goal was never just to earn money—but to build confidence and independence among women.
