Bollywood actress Vidya Balan turned heads with her timeless ethnic look at the recent Kaifi Azmi Birth Anniversary event, showcasing the beauty of Indian craftsmanship with a rich brown Bandhej saree priced at ₹84,300.
The saree was a striking example of traditional Bandhani (also known as Bandhej) — a tie‑dye textile craft originating from regions such as Gujarat and Rajasthan that has been practised since ancient times.
Embracing Traditional Handwork
Vidya chose a luxurious silk Bandhej saree in a deep brown hue, adorned with intricate embroidery featuring zari, resham threadwork, sequins, beads, cut dana, dhabka, and finished with a brocade‑lined hem and pallu. The elaborate detailing highlighted not just the saree’s rich texture but celebrated centuries‑old handloom artistry.
She paired the six‑yard masterpiece from Sunira Designs with a simple deep brown V‑neck silk blouse, allowing the saree’s craftsmanship to take centre stage.
Styling With Grace
To complement the classic ethnic look, Vidya accessorised with a black potli bag featuring golden sequin embroidery and fringe detailing, along with statement gold earrings that elevated the outfit’s elegance. Her makeup was kept soft and dewy — winged eyeliner, mascara‑coated lashes, a hint of highlighter, and glossy nude lips — while her hair was styled in soft curls parted in the centre, enhancing the overall graceful vibes.
