With the annual Tehri Lake Festival drawing close, Tehri Garhwal’s District Magistrate, Nitika Khandelwal, has carried out a detailed inspection of preparations at Koti Colony, underscoring the administration’s efforts to deliver a dynamic and well-organized cultural celebration.
Meeting with senior officials and local representatives, the DM reviewed arrangements for land use, safety measures, and logistical support, alongside plans to host a wide array of activities designed to engage both residents and tourists.
The festival will feature various competitions and attractions, such as Master Chef Tehri, photography and rap contests, creative painting events, and a traditional attire fashion show (Mr & Miss Tehri). Adventure enthusiasts can look forward to rafting, trekking, paragliding, mountain biking, and water sports. A kite show is also among the highlights curated for the festival.
In addition to entertainment, organisers have woven in cultural awareness programmes. Several performances and initiatives themed around river conservation — particularly the “Save Ganga” campaign — are scheduled to reinforce environmental messages among attendees. Events honouring the history and heritage of Old Tehri will also be part of the festivities.
Prize money has been announced for top winners in the competitive segments, with respective awards of ₹1 lakh, ₹50,000, and ₹25,000 for the first, second, and third places.
Officials highlighted the festival’s role in boosting tourism, showcasing local talent, and energising the region’s cultural landscape as part of a broader effort to establish Tehri Lake as a premier destination for adventure and cultural tourism.
