In 2016, when awareness about solar energy in India was still limited and most people associated solar power only with water heaters, Amol Sirsat dared to think differently. Inspired by India’s commitment to environmental protection and carbon emission reduction under the Paris Agreement of 2015, signed by 195 countries, he founded Kanthak Solar Energy Pvt. Ltd. with a vision to promote clean and sustainable energy.
A Vision Ahead of Its Time
At a time when solar energy was largely misunderstood, Amol Sirsat recognized its long-term potential for both the environment and society. His goal was not just business growth, but also contributing to a cleaner future by encouraging the adoption of renewable energy solutions across Maharashtra.
Early Struggles and Relentless Effort 
The initial phase of the journey was extremely challenging. Explaining the benefits of solar energy, finding new customers, and building trust were major hurdles. Amol traveled extensively across Maharashtra, interacted with people directly, and patiently educated them about the importance and advantages of solar power.
Despite years of struggle and slow progress, he never gave up. His consistent efforts gradually began to create awareness and acceptance of solar energy among households.
Growth, Setbacks, and Resilience
The business saw a positive turn when the government introduced subsidies for solar installations, leading to a surge in demand. However, the sudden discontinuation of subsidies brought severe challenges, and the company faced nearly one and a half years of financial difficulty.
The most testing phase arrived during the COVID-19 pandemic. To keep the company afloat, Amol had to shut down three offices. Yet, this crisis proved to be a turning point rather than an end.
A New Beginning with Government Support
The launch of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana by the Government of India brought renewed momentum to the solar sector. For Kanthak Solar Energy, this initiative became a fresh lifeline. The hard work of the past seven years began to pay off, and the company’s growth graph rose rapidly.
Achievements and Customer Impact
Today, Kanthak Solar Energy has successfully installed solar systems in over 750 homes, generating more than 1 megawatt of electricity. Customers are benefiting from significantly reduced electricity bills and high-quality, reliable service.
The company has not only delivered economic relief to households but has also contributed meaningfully to sustainable energy production and environmental conservation.
