In a journey that transcends mere career change, Shivani Vikram Rathod, founder of Nandini Makeover, embodies the power of resilience, responsibility, and vision. Today, she is recognized as a successful, independent woman entrepreneur, transforming her personal loss into a story of strength and empowerment.
Early Life and Personal Tragedy
While pursuing her engineering degree, Shivani’s world was turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic. Lockdowns, fear, and uncertainty brought life to a standstill, but amidst this turbulence, a personal tragedy reshaped her life entirely.
Her father, a dedicated officer in the police department, contracted COVID-19 during the second wave. Committed to his duty, he passed away, leaving the family grappling not only with emotional grief but also with mental and financial strain.
With her brother away for training, the full responsibility of the household fell on Shivani and her mother, forcing her to mature rapidly in the face of adversity.
Inspiration from Her Mother
Shivani’s greatest inspiration has been her mother, who in 2008 started “Nandini Beauty Point” in an 8×8 ft rented space. With no substantial capital or family business background, her mother relied solely on hard work, integrity, and commitment.
Today, that humble beginning has grown into a recognized brand. Shivani grew up witnessing her mother interact with clients, build trust, and instill confidence in every woman—lessons that became deeply embedded in her own character.
From Engineer to Professional Makeup Artist
After completing her engineering degree, Shivani faced a choice: pursue a stable corporate career or follow her mother’s entrepreneurial path. She chose the latter.
Shivani trained as a professional makeup artist, honing both technical and creative skills. Initially, skepticism arose—“An engineer becoming a makeup artist?” But Shivani knew that true success comes when passion meets professionalism.
With her first client, first income, and first bridal booking, she steadily built her reputation, demonstrating determination, skill, and dedication.
Social Media and Business Growth
Social media became a powerful vehicle for Shivani’s journey. The Nandini Makeover page now boasts a large following, providing not just clients but also encouragement, trust, and inspiration.
Word-of-mouth referrals combined with digital outreach accelerated the business. Today, Shivani proudly runs an independent enterprise, modernizing her mother’s brand with professionalism, vision, and contemporary practices.
